I can honestly say that this is…
A Place After My Own Heart: Art Box
Featured recently in Secondlife’s destination guide I had the good fortune to find myself exploring the Art Box. With three separate floors, the Art Box is chock full of famous recreated paintings, posters, and album covers that need your avatar to finish the work. In other words, you sit your avatar on the art piece and you become a part of that work of art. Here I am becoming the finished Cowboy At Sunset by Ewing Galloway, the screamer in The Scream by Edward Munch (I’m framing that one!) and the dreamer in Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate by Salvador Dali. The creators of Art Box say this about themselves: “Art Box fully recreates famous photos & paintings -in 3D- so your Avatar is the star.”
You could also say that the Art Box is an educational installation as you’ll finally learn the names of the artists that created those famous paintings, paintings you’ve seen all your life!
Needless to say, this is an installation after my own heart because as you know, I too create art that needs to be finished by your avatar. Totally worth the visit, you’ll find yourself immersed in becoming the star of dozens of different art pieces. Remember to take snaps!
